Bluebonnets and Babies!

I've been a Mommy for 5 years now and this is the first time I've actually made it out with my babies to frolic in the beautiful Texas bluebonnets. It couldn't have been a more beautiful day! Unfortunately I didn't realize that all the weeds mixed in with the bluebonnets are scratchy and burn the skin. So little Haley was screaming in pain within the first 5 minutes. As soon as her little bum touched the ground she had ouchy scratches probably burning like the ones I had on my legs from sitting down. Next time we all wear jeans. Hunter had a good time running wild. I managed to get a few decent pictures. Granddaddy and Debbie got a few good ones too and seemed to enjoy chasing Haley and Hunter around in the fields. Better luck next year :-)

Uh-Oh, My Future Angelina Jolie!

Cowboys & Cowgirls

These are the hats the kids picked out at the rodeo. Hunter's been wearing his anytime he goes out to play in the yard. And suddenly he's started grabbing his Longhorn baseball cap when we head out the door to go somewhere. Becoming a man!

Houston Rodeo!

Much to my suprise...this year the Rodeo was a big hit for both Hunter and Haley. I thought Haley wasn't going to enjoy too much of it at her age, but they both had a wonderful time. There was of course the petting zoo, the tractor display, chickens hatching, cow's milking like all the previous years. But this year they had a new exhibit where the kids dressed in an apron, grabbed a bucket and worked the farm to grow and harvest their crops which they eventually sold at the farmers market for play money. They were then able to make a purchase of their choice at the General Store for a real snack or drink. Both Haley and Hunter chose a juice box...must have worked up a thirst. They had tons of fun riding the carnival rides and Haley riding the carosel. Hunter wants Rodeo time to be all the time!

Full Throttle!

Finally.......Haley's walking is at full throttle. She took her first steps the day she turned 18 months which was, February 10th. As of last week I guess she has been full speed ahead actually walking all over. The moment she wakes up you here the monitor click on with "Walky walky, OK! Walky walky, OK, OK!" She's ready to be set free. Free to roam...walky walkin! We are super proud of her this week as she has grown up so much suddenly. She also spent about 24 hours consistently going pee pee on the potty! Saturday night and all day Sunday she sat on her new potty every few hours and actually sprinkled her deposit :-) This was all sudden and just our experiment as we had bought her a baby potty to familiarize herself with the idea for the future. We never expected her to demonstrate so quickly what it was for. But we're not getting our hopes up yet. Hunter pee'd in the potty a few times at 18 months only too block it out a few more years and not potty train till 3 years old. However Haley did give it a much more impressive first day. Of course Monday and so far of Tuesday..totally interested in trying although no deposits yet. We are so proud of her newest milestone though and are enjoying watching her spread her wings! Hope you enjoy the walking videos to follow.

Two for one special!

It actually went rather well! I was pleasantly suprised. I took both of the kids to their well check ups last week at the same time. I thought I was setting myself up for total chaos, but it was the best visit either of them have ever had to the pediatrician. Hunter was well behaved during all the waiting and didn't interupt this time. He did have questions for the doctor or rather a few statements of "I'm a very healthy boy..I don't get sick..so I don't need any shots", and other similar points to make. Much to Hunter's delight he didn't need any shots this time...yeah!!! Haley was quiet and cooperative during her exam for a first, and was a happy silly girl during the wait...practicing her walking around the room. Haley did have to get one shot...and after a year of serious deliberation, I decided to have the doctor pierce her ears as well. So it was one, two, three...owey's...then Mommy held her and within 30 seconds she was smiling and being silly again with big brother. She's cried quite a bit more for any other visit. She's been fine following her new bling bling, not losing any sleep and cruizing around the house saying "happy happy." Glad that went well...whew!
So the stats:
Hunter's 5 years old, ht- 47 inches (3'11")off the growth chart
Wt- 49 lbs. 90%
Haley's 18 months, ht- 32 1/4 70%
wt- 22 lbs. 20%

Now I know why it's so hard to push them together in the wagon or the sit and stand stroller :-)
